Minecraft

Abstract: This chapter examines the many ways in which Minecraft serves as a platform and engine for wide-ranging user-generated content. James Newman argues that to understand Minecraft means appreciating how playing and making are indivisible acts, and that user creativity manifests both as in-game goods and as extra-textual content shared to social media, activities that grow the community and trouble what it means to be a “game.”
