Miyamoto/Kojima
Abstract: Games are often celebrated for the fact that players are co-authors of their interactive experiences, yet turning attention to the designer shifts the conversation to the formation of the game as a designed, vision-driven experience. Jennifer deWinter uses Shigeru Miyamoto and Hideo Kojima—two Japanese game designers with very different backgrounds and visions—to explore how game designers author video games in significant and observable ways, which are embedded in personal, historical, and cultural contexts.
