Abstract: Counter-Strike’s status as an established and mature esport highlights the critical role of player-spectators, networked broadcasting, media sports packaging, and celebrity in transforming competitive gaming into a spectator sport. In this chapter, Emma Witkowski examines the rich socio-technical systems advancing the state of esports as media sports entertainment in Counter-Strike.
